Katsushika Hokusai

Hokusai is arguably the most internationally recognized ukiyo-e artist today. Much of his fame is attributed to his "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji" series, particularly "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and "Fine Wind, Clear Morning", a series that he created out of his fascination for Mount Fuji. Influenced by Chinese art, he gained popularity in Europe during the Japonisme era, impacting Western art movements such as Impressionism and Art Nouveau.
