George Barbier

George Barbier, born in Nantes, France, in 1882, emerged as a prominent French illustrator in the early 20th century. His work was motivated by a desire to fuse fashion with art, creating timeless images that captured the spirit of the era while influencing the aesthetics of the Art Deco movement. He collaborated with Erté on Folies Bergère sets in the mid-1920s and contributed essays to Gazette du Bon Ton, gaining mainstream popularity until his death in 1932.
