Ernst Ludwig Kirchner

The German expressionist artist, painted bold, vibrant scenes reflecting urban life and human emotions. His art aimed to convey raw energy, emphasizing color and form over realistic representation. Kirchner co-founded Die Brücke, a group leading to the foundation of Expressionism. In 1933 his work was branded as "degenerate art" and prosecuted by the nazis. Facing personal demons and health issues, Kirchner tragically ended his life in 1938.
